Tenancy Fraud

Find out more about tenancy fraud, what it is and how to report it.

What is tenancy fraud?

Tenancy fraud is when a home isn’t used in the way it’s meant to be. This can include someone subletting without permission, giving false information to get a property, or no longer living in their home.

With social housing in short supply and so many people waiting for a home, it’s important that our homes go to those who need them most. That’s why we take tenancy fraud seriously.

What we do

We actively prevent, detect and respond to tenancy fraud by:

    • Carrying out checks when homes are allocated.
    • Using data and home visits to spot potential issues.
    • Investigating all concerns thoroughly.
    • Working with local authorities and other agencies.
    • Taking action to recover homes if fraud is proven.

How you can help

Tenancy fraud applies to all our tenants, shared owners and leaseholders.

If you’re worried about tenancy fraud, you can report it to us in confidence. Every report helps us make sure homes go to people who need them most.

You can report anonymously and be confident your information will be treated sensitively and your privacy will be respected.
