Applying for a role
Before you apply, spend some time getting to know Moat - what we stand for, our purpose, and the difference we make. It’s just as important that we’re right for you as you are for us.
Our values are at the heart of everything we do. Bring them to life by sharing real examples of how you’ve demonstrated similar values in your own experience.
Take a close look at the job description and person specification. Think about where you’ve done something similar - at work, in education, or even in your personal life. Be sure to demonstrate this in your application and interview so we can really understand your transferrable skills.
Why this role? Why Moat? We’d love to understand what you’re looking for and what you’re hoping to achieve next in your career.
If you have any questions, please ask. Whether it’s about the role or the recruitment process, our hiring managers and People Services team are always happy to support you ([email protected]).
If you’re applying for more than one role, tailor each application. Taking a bit of extra time to make it specific really helps us to understand your intentions and your applicable skills and experience.
A quick proofread goes a long way. Check spelling, grammar and your details. It's the small things that can make a big difference.
Interview tips
If you’re attending in person, aim to arrive around 10 minutes early so you have time to settle in and feel at ease.
Find a quiet space where you won’t be interrupted. Test your tech, check your background, and make sure everything is ready so you can focus on being your best.
Whether it’s in person or online, choose something that makes you feel comfortable and confident while keeping it professional.
At Moat, we celebrate individuality. We don’t expect perfection - we want to see the real you, your personality, your experiences, and what makes you unique.
Using the STAR technique can really help structure your answers:
- Situation – set the scene.
- Task – what needed to be done.
- Action – what you did.
- Result – what happened as a result.
It's a great way to share your impact and achievements.
This is your opportunity too. Come prepared with a few questions - whether it’s about the team, the role, or life at Moat.
After your interview
A simple thank you goes a long way. It’s also a good moment to check when you can expect to hear back and ask any follow-up questions.
Not every role will be the right match, but it’s an opportunity to learn from your experience with us. A ‘no’ today could be a ‘yes’ tomorrow. We always encourage you to ask for feedback and keep an eye on future opportunities with us.
