Your responsibilities if you rent

Your lease sets out what you can expect of us and, in turn, what we will expect from you during your tenancy.

You’ll receive a copy of your tenancy agreement when you sign for your home.

This legal document sets out what you can expect of us (your rights) and, in turn, what we will expect from you during your tenancy (your responsibilities).

As it’s a legal document, be sure to keep it safe.

  • Your responsibilities

Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Paying your rent on time and in full.
    • Not causing nuisance or anti-social behaviour to your immediate neighbours and in your surrounding area.
    • Reporting all repairs in your property to Moat in a timely fashion.
    • Keeping your garden and immediate surrounding area clean and tidy.
    • Giving Moat access to your property upon reasonable request being provided.
    • Adhering to the terms of your tenancy agreement.

Persistent failure to meet these obligations may mean we're forced to take legal action against you, which could put your tenancy and your home at risk. You may also be charged where Moat has had to intervene with legal action, repairs or other remedial steps to address a breach.
