Being able to connect and become part of a community helped Liz to settle into a new life

One of our over 55s schemes in Swanley, has been more than just a home for our customers – it’s given them a chance to build a real community, make great friendships, and feel connected to where they live.

Liz has been a regular at the scheme’s weekly coffee afternoons, where she gathers with her neighbours in the communal lounge and swaps her week’s news over a cuppa. Being able to connect and become part of a community helped Liz to settle into a new life in Kent after she made the move from Edinburgh.

After four happy years in her home, she says that it’s the people at Moat that make her feel valued - and speaks highly of her Neighbourhood Services Manager:

“My Neighbourhood Services Manager is sensible and proactive and really tries hard to help us with compassion. She goes beyond her job, and when you have people at Moat like that, it makes Moat very special.”

“It’s lovely to just laugh, and that’s what I love about it here. We’re looked after – we haven’t got a landlord who’s ignoring us. Moat looks after us – so how could you not love it. The fact that people are being heard - it’s great that Moat think that way.”

We’re not just here to provide homes to people who need them – we want to help you thrive by creating friendly and welcome communities that bring people together.
