Time to get your home winter ready!

Now the signs of autumn have started to appear, it's time to get your home ready for winter. The winter months can be harsh on both you and your home. Read our ‘Now’s the time’ checklist below to ensure you’re safe and cosy during the colder months.

Test your heating

After a hot summer of little or no use, your heating may not be working properly. It’s quick and easy to check:

1. Turn on all of your radiator valves and if you have one fitted, put the room thermostat to its highest setting.
   
   
2. Set the heating to run on your boiler or programmer.
   
   
3. Check that each one of your radiators is heating up.
   
   
4. Turn everything back to its original settings once you’re happy the system’s working.

If you rent your home with us doing these checks now will give you time to report a repair and book in an appointment, so your heating is in working order when it’s needed. We log the highest number of boiler repairs in winter which means you may need to wait longer to get your heating running during these months.
