Surveying your home

Every five years we need to undertake a survey of your home.

What is a home improvement survey?

Every five years we need to undertake a home improvement survey (or stock condition survey as they are also known) of our rented homes and communal areas. This means that we do a visual check of the fixtures and fittings inside and outside your home to make sure it is safe and secure for you and your family to live in. The results help us understand the current condition of your home and help us plan for when we need to repair, replace, or improve items in your home.

What happens with the results?

Home improvement surveys are vital because the information gathered during the survey is used in many ways. Most importantly, it’s to ensure that your home is maintained when needed and helps us generate future replacement programmes for things like windows, doors, kitchens, and bathrooms. It highlights areas where we could do better to keep your home safe and warm and ultimately more cost effective for you. Additionally, the survey can help us to understand any building and fire safety issues and also help us consider things like long-term investment, strategic planning of our homes and funding opportunities to improve our homes in the future.

Please help us to keep your home safe and a comfortable place to live for you and your family by being available for appointments and letting us carry out these surveys.

Please note that the surveyors are only there to do the survey, so if you have any repairs, please report these to us by telephone, email or by your MyMoat account.
