New homes meet social housing need in Folkestone

Moat Housing are building 27 new homes for social rent in Cheriton, Folkestone, in response to growing housing need in the area. Folkstone & Hythe District have a high level of need for rented social housing, with around 1,500 eligible households registered and waiting for suitable accommodation.

We have exchanged contracts with Jenner (Construction) Limited to build 18 two-bedroom apartments, six three-bedroom houses and three four-bedroom houses, with the aim to move families and individuals in during summer 2022.

Jenner have demolished the existing structure on site and building works at the Brockman Centre are due to commence soon. Russell Drury, our Senior Land, New Business & Development Manager said: “It is a pleasure to be working with Jenner on another project. This scheme not only makes excellent use of a vacant site but delivers high-quality family housing that will be truly affordable.

Sandra Sainsbury, Housing Strategy & Partnerships Officer at Folkestone and Hythe District Council said: “We have worked in partnership for many years with Moat and we are pleased that this site is being brought forward to deliver much-needed housing at affordable rent for our residents.
