While we’ve had to adapt our ways of working, our focus remains the same – to keep our residents safe and supported in their homes, to keep vital services running, and to help our communities to respond.
For this reason, we welcome the response of the National Housing Federation (NHF) to the coronavirus outbreak. Along with housing associations around the country, we stand with the NHF in our joint commitment to:
1. Keep people secure at home
No one will be evicted from our homes as a result of financial hardship caused by coronavirus.
2. Help people to get the support they need
We’re helping residents to access benefits and other support to alleviate financial hardship.
3. Act compassionately and quickly where people are struggling
We’re working with residents to understand how we can help them.
Elizabeth Austerberry, Chief Executive at Moat, said: “We realise that in these difficult times, having a place to call home is more important than ever. I’d urge anyone who is concerned about paying their rent to get in touch with us so we can work out how we can help them.”
Over the past several weeks, we’ve continued to provide essential services. We’re working closely with local authorities to fill urgent housing requests and with local organisations to support vulnerable people in our communities. We’re helping residents to access benefits or secure additional income and ensuring that we maintain important health and safety functions and emergency repairs.
We’ve put processes in place to allow our staff to work remotely and our team is still on hand to help. Please do get in touch if you’re in need of any support.
