Moatees were sharing the love this past Valentine’s Week as we saw the conclusion of two fantastic fundraising drives for great causes.
Annual raffle raises £1,400 for PKU
For 2019, Moat’s annual raffle raised money in support of The National Society for Phenylketonuria (NSPUK). Phenylketonuria (PKU), which affects 1 in 10,000 babies in the UK, is a genetic disorder where there is an excess build-up of one of the body’s building blocks of protein, phenylalanine. The NSPUK supports those affected by PKU and sponsors medical research. A Moatee who works in the Central Services team has a daughter who was born with PKU, so the NSPKU is a cause that’s very close to their heart and, with support from their colleagues, they raised £1,400.
Valentine’s cake sale raises £323 for Street Angels
Moat’s Executive Director of Housing & Customer Operations, Anne-Britt Karunaratne, not only has a big heart and a passion for social issues, but also an immense talent for baking! In a special Valentine’s-themed charity cake sale, Anne-Britt baked over 100 cupcakes, brownies and meringues to raise £323 for The Medway Street Angels. The Medway Street Angels supports homeless people in the Medway area of Kent and seeks to tackle the causes of homelessness (e.g. mental health issues).
