Thanks to the fundraising skills of our Kent Neighbourhood Team, we have raised an amazing £2,450 for Holding On Letting Go, a Kent-based charity that helps children to cope with the death of someone close to them.
Established in 2005, the charity relies on funds raised by events, donations and grants which are used to run non-residential support weekends staffed by trained volunteers. Funds are also used to provide art and craft materials for the children to use to express their feelings and work through their grief. These weekends are creative and encourage the children to make things that help them to hold on to precious memories, while learning how to let go of painful ones. It also gives them a chance to share their feelings and learn strategies for dealing with difficult emotions, with the added benefit of making new friends who have experienced something similar.
Caroline Gaskin is a fundraising officer for HOLG and attended the event – Caroline said; “I thoroughly enjoyed meeting Emma and the team today. Thank you all so much for your hard work, the funds raised will help to fund a bereavement support weekend for up to 25 children. We are delighted that Moat are supporting us”.
