Moat’s new Community Hub, co-located with their Maldon office at Fullbridge Mill, was officially opened this week.
With representatives from Maldon District Council and other partners in attendance, including The Window Company who, along with contractors K&T Heating, have each made generous donations of £10,000 to help with the set-up of the Hub. The event was opened by Stephen Walker, our Director of Neighbourhoods, who said; “Moat’s purpose is more than just bricks and mortar, we aim to help the most vulnerable people in society and make a lasting impact in our communities”.
There was a chance to look around the Hub and all the many facilities that are on offer for the local community, including an IT suite, meeting room and quiet family room. Local Moat residents will have the opportunity to access a range of valuable services and support, including Maldon Job Club, employability and digital skills workshops, and a range of services particularly designed for older people, helping to build and strengthen the community and offering a lasting impact.
Our Community Hubs, of which this is our fifth, are run through our charitable arm, Moat Foundation, with programmes available to those who face challenges due to age, ill health, disability or financial hardship. Last year alone we have helped to support almost 1,500 customers through a range of targeted activities, which reflect the key objectives of Moat Foundation – supporting young people to gain employment, ensure thriving communities and support for an ageing population.
