Our charity month!

We’ve had a particularly amazing charitable month during December, with lots of fundraising events raising money for a whole range of charities.

Six very worthy charities benefited from our all-company festive event earlier this month. Winners from the various competitions donated their winnings to Street Angels, Macmillan Cancer Trust, Battersea Dog’s Home, The Rainbow Trust, Dogs Trust, and Allsorts Youth Project. Our Horsham team held a successful raffle for the Sussex Homestart Snowflake appeal and raised nearly £700, and we’ve been able to make and deliver a number of gifts boxes full of goodies to those who most need them, thanks to donations from our Property Services team and contractors.

This week, with donations of nearly £400, we’ve been out shopping for the incredible Gillingham Street Angels and we’ve bought all manner of food, including pasta, rice, cheese, coffee, tuna, hot dogs, treats, mobile phones and even dog food for anyone with a canine companion! Street Angels provides a wonderful service to the homeless all year round, but we were particularly happy to learn that on Christmas Day,  Neil’s team will be out and about providing a hot meal to the homeless and also anyone who is vulnerable or alone, as well as providing food parcels which will be hand delivered! Neil runs Gillingham Street Angels, giving up his free time to help those less fortunate than he is.  His support is available 52 weeks a year and includes outreach work and prison visits, all on top of his own full time job.

The calendar that gives back!

This year, we decided to create a reverse advent calendar – we put something in every day instead of taking something out!  Each day during December, we put a box out in the office and our amazing and generous staff filled it with gifts for those less fortunate who may be struggling or alone at Christmas. Three of our women’s refuges will be receiving hand-delivered gift boxes today – packed with toys, chocolates and food treats and lots of lovely toiletries. It was great fun for us to do, but more importantly has reminded us about the importance of helping others, particularly at this time of year.
