Moat foundation branding

Moat Foundation

Our charitable arm launched in January 2017, with the objective of helping develop people and communities.

We know that a community cannot thrive without its people being in a positive place and our work through Moat Foundation has particular focus on those who face challenges due to age, ill health, disability or financial hardship. All of Moat Foundation’s activities are delivered through programmes and projects designed to enhance society and build more cohesive communities.

So far, this year, with the help of our partners, we’ve supported 1,482 customers with:

Our community hubs

We deliver various activities through our five Community Hubs in Essex, Gravesham, Gillingham, Sittingbourne and Stanhope. By working together with partners, such as West Kent Communities and Uprising, we deliver Hub based community activities ranging from; breakfast clubs, youth clubs, half terms and summer activities for young people and their families, pre-employment training, health and well-being activities for older residents (bingo sessions, gentle exercise, theatre trips), financial wellbeing drop-ins and talking therapies sessions to name but a few.

Interested in volunteering?

We hold quarterly recruitment drives for Hub Volunteers who help us run all of the activities. To become a volunteer, email your details to moat.foundation@moat.co.uk and we’ll give you a call. We’ll make sure that you have the right training and support in place before you start, making this a great opportunity to gain new skills. Aside from Hub Volunteers we are always on the lookout for Community Volunteers to help support the running of a number of wider community based projects. We’re currently looking for volunteers to become Digital Champions, Community Be-frienders and Walking Group leaders. If you are interested, email your details to moat.foundation@moat.co.uk.

Want to set up a resident association?

Moat Foundation can also offer support and advice to residents who are interested in setting up a group to address local community issues in their neighbourhood. Our Foundation Officers are happy to meet with residents to help them with setting up a group and possible seed funding towards the set-up costs. If this is  of interest to you, please send us an email on moat.foundation@moat.co.uk.
