What is the Moat Census?ignore

One of the basics of good customer service is knowing what customers want. The Moat Census is a survey which will find out more about residents, and will help Moat to improve your experience of living in one of our homes.

The survey consists of three parts: an online survey, a phone survey and a postal survey. These will be used in the most cost effective combination to gather all the data we require.

How will it work?
We want all of our rented residents and home owners to complete the census. If we have an email address for you, we will first send you a link to the online version of the survey. If you complete the survey online, then we will not ask you to complete a phone or postal survey.

Anyone who does not complete the online survey will be included in the phone survey, where we will call you to conduct an interview over the phone. Finally, if we do not get through to you on the phone we will send you a paper questionnaire for you to complete and post back.

We have asked two market research agencies, Kwest and GfK, to carry out some of the work on our behalf. Kwest will run the email survey, while the telephone survey will be conducted by representatives from Moat's Customer Service Team, Kwest and GfK.

What will the information be used for?

Many residents are unaware of the full range of services Moat offers. So, we will use the information you provide us with to let you know about the services that are most relevant to you. We are also intending to design new services which meet your changing needs and aspirations, based on the details we receive. Checking we hold the correct information about you will also ensure that we are not discriminating against you, or any other residents.

What information are we asking for?

We are asking for basic contact information (such as phone numbers and email addresses) for the head of each household, as well as names and dates of birth of everyone living at each property. We are also asking for diversity information (including ethnicity and religious beliefs) and whether anyone in the household has a disability or other accessibility requirements.

Additionally, we would like to know about your financial circumstances, such as your income, benefits, debt and fuel costs.

If you would prefer not to answer a particular question, you can just leave it blank or tick the ‘prefer not to say’ box.

When will it take place?

The surveys began in November and we expect to have collected information from all our residents by the end of April 2012.
