Anti social behaviour
Tackling anti-social behaviour ... together!
We are committed to working within communities to create safe and attractive environments for people to live in. We want to do everything we can to prevent anti-social behaviour before it starts. We have published a leaflet that explains the options available to residents who may be experiencing problems due to anti-social behaviour.
We will work in partnership with residents and other agencies to resolve situations where people's lives are being affected by the unacceptable behaviour of others. In certain situations we have no choice but to take a tough stance. We won't let the actions of a few ruin the efforts of most people who want to live their lives in a pleasant, peaceful and safe environment.
What you should do if you have a complaint about your neighbours?
If you have a complaint about someone living near you, first of all you should try to resolve the problem directly with that person before you contact us.
Talking to the person and explaining the situation can help them to understand the impact that it is having on you and the discomfort it is causing. Efforts to compromise and trying to see each other's point of view often go a long way towards resolving the problem harmoniously amongst yourselves.

Anti-social behaviour policy and procedure
As part of the new Anti-social Behaviour Act 2003, we have published three documents that describe our approach to tackling anti-social behaviour.
These documents are:
1. Anti-social behaviour policy
2. Anti-social behaviour statement of procedures
3. Anti-social behaviour summary of policy and procedure
Respect standard
We have recently signalled our continuing commitment to tackling anti-social behaviour by signing up to the government's Respect Standard for housing management.
By signing up to the standard we make the following public commitments:
- We will take ASB seriously and do what we say we will
- Involve residents in making decisions about how we tackle ASB
- Use prevention and early intervention
- Provide support for victims and witnesses
- Protect communities through swift enforcement
- Help tackle the causes of ASB
