Mortgage rescue

In early September 2008, the government announced plans to develop a national mortgage rescue scheme to help some of the most vulnerable households facing repossession to stay in their homes. The scheme is aimed at those who would be eligible for homelessness assistance and will be subject to a range of eligibility criteria.

Moat is the provider for mortgage rescue in Essex, Kent and Sussex. If you believe you may be eligible for mortgage rescue, you should contact the Housing Options Team at your local authority.

Please note that Moat can only take referrals for this scheme from local authorities.

Mortgage rescue is not available to shared owners. If you have a shared ownership property with Moat, and are in financial difficulty, please refer to our Flexible Tenure section.

Your home is at risk if you do not keep up rent and mortgage repayments or payments on other loans secured on it.

Please note that the value of properties can go down as well as up.
