We deliver fundamental improvements to the quality of people's lives and in develop a stronger sense of identity for the communities we bring together.  We build homes that are visually attractive and respond to a variety of needs and lifestyles and that are functional and distinctive.

Our design brief sets down an approach to the design of new residential developments and individual homes.

The brief stimulates discussion and sets standards which can be achieved by imaginative and thoughtful design.  It does not contain model solutions, but does include examples of good practice and allow room for innovation to achieve continuous improvement.  It draws on the guidance and conclusion of many existing standards and publications and responds to the Egan Report and modern methods agenda.

Through a combination of text and illustrations the brief offers prompts and reminders, highlighting examples of good and bad practice and gives sound practical guidance.

The brief builds on the principles of our design vision document and acts as a lead-in to our Employer's Requirements by being both aspiration and practical.

The design guide spells out our design aspirations.  It is for our colleagues and our partners.  It sets a marker for the design quality of Moat projects and it outlines a future where design works hard to contribute to the success of our built environments.
