We are currently working with young people at Stanhope and Pollards Hill via the reward and respect scheme. Young people are rewarded for good behaviour, taking pride in their area and fostering a community spirit.
We have Executive Delivery Agents who deliver our newsletters and they are 'rewarded' for this service. They are registered with the local council and given work permits to enable them to perform their duties after school and at the weekends.
We consult with these young people to get their views on youth matters and it is proving very useful.
In terms of succession planning, we are getting them ready for the Tenant Residents' Associations and committees of the future.
We also work very closely with the Skills Academy at Stanhope referring young people to the Academy for placements.
We also provide work experience placements for the young people via their schools to give them an idea of what housing is all about.
