Moat wants to prevent its residents and their families from experiencing all forms of abuse. As a social landlord, we are mindful of our statutory obligations to report all instances of abuse or suspected abuse. This duty extends to our adult residents and to children living in Moat homes. We will work in a holistic way with child care agencies, promote the welfare of children, and seek advice when referring suspected cases of child abuse.
For our adult residents, we will support those who are vulnerable through mental or other disability, age, or illness. We will work with adult social care teams and promote the interests of those who are unable for care for themselves or who are unable to protect themselves against significant harm or exploitation.
Moat has a detailed procedure in place for referring vulnerable residents and children to care services. To complement this, our new business stratergy will allow for the creation of a Vulnerable Residents Procedure so that residents can continue to receive help, advice and assistance in maintaining their tenancies. Neighbourhood Officers will also sign-post vulnerable residents to other support services provided by other agencies.
Please contact your Neighbourhood Officer on 0845 600 1006 for further advice.
