First affordable housing planning permission at Greenwich Peninsula

The Greenwich Peninsula

Mode Homes, a joint venture between Moat, L&Q and Greenwich Peninsula Regeneration Ltd, has secured planning permission for 207 new homes at the Greenwich Peninsula site, including over 80 affordable homes. Work is expected to start on site later this year.

The new homes will combine high quality design with the latest in eco-building, including green roofs, rainwater recycling and renewable energy features.

Moat’s executive director:  development and new business, Paul Hackett,  says: “This first affordable housing project is the start of a new phase in the 15 year regeneration of Greenwich Peninsula, one of the largest and most exciting regeneration projects in Europe.

“We’re delighted to be key partners in this strategic new riverside community for London, building on our involvement from the very start ten years ago in the pioneering Greenwich Millennium Village next door. Greenwich Peninsula will once again showcase our skills in working in close partnership with the private sector and other housing association developers to deliver mixed and sustainable communities.”

The £5 billion regeneration of 190 acres of land at Greenwich Peninsula will eventually produce 10,000 new homes, around 24,000 permanent jobs, a new business district, leisure facilities, parks and open spaces.
