Development agency role
Moat is looking for new and innovative ways to expand our service offer, and one of the ways we are doing this is by offering key local authority partners a customised development agency service. Our key development areas are Essex, Kent and Sussex with a particular emphasis on the government growth areas including the Thames Gateway, the M11 corridor and Ashford in Kent.
Moat has an experienced and committed development and new business team based in our central office in Dartford, Kent. The team covers Kent, Essex, Sussex as well as South London and is led by a group of development managers with expertise in new business and project management. Moat is using this team to offer a specialised service to key local authorities who want to develop new affordable housing. We provide a wide variety of different services and will tailor our approach to meet local authority needs.
Moat is already working in partnership with Crawley Borough Council. Having won a competitive bid to provide development agency services in Crawley, we are developing a scheme of 16 new build apartments on a small piece of local authority owned land. From October 2009 to February 2010 we obtained investment status for the Council, obtained grant funding from the HCA, got planning consent on the site and obtained tenders based on an agreed specification to achieve ‘code level 4’ of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Moat’s executive director: development and new business, Steve Nunn, says; “We have an experienced development team with a track record of high performance and delivery. The HCA consistently place us in the top quartile of housing associations for our performance in delivering our programme and meeting our commitments. We are delighted to be providing development agency services for Crawley Borough Council and will be pleased to talk to other partners about how we can help you to deliver your new homes programme.”
