Single Equality Scheme - incorporating Moat's race, gender and disability equality schemes.

This integrated Equality Scheme describes how Moat will be pro-active in ensuring that people are treated fairly. The Scheme describes our approach to ensuring fairness, accessibility and transparency in every aspect of our work.

Moat’s Single Equality Scheme sets out the ways by which we will promote positive attitudes to people who may have suffered bias, prejudice or discrimination, and the steps we will take to meet the needs of people with disabilities, even if this requires more favourable treatment.

We will actively seek to involve people who have an interest in the way Moat carries out our functions in implementing the Scheme, and in monitoring its’ success. This may include former, current and potential service users, staff and the wider community, all of whom are encouraged to come forward with suggestions and feedback to help us to deliver improvements across the full range of our activities.

As a service provider, this Equality Scheme sets out the further actions we will take to ensure the services we provide and our other functions take account of the needs of people with disabilities, those who are black and minority ethnic, and those who may be subject to differential treatment because of their gender.

As an employer, this Scheme describes our arrangements for recruiting, developing and retaining employees from a diverse population, and ensuring that there is open access to the full range of employment opportunities.

Across all relevant aspects of Moat’s operations, we will seek to identify our performance on embedding equality and diversity into everything that we do. We will use a range of mechanisms for collecting information and feedback to inform this process.

Moat’s Board and Executive Management Team are committed to over-seeing the implementation of the Single Equality Scheme, ensuring that equality and diversity, and our core values of treating everyone fairly and with respect remain at the heart of who we are and what we do.
